Direct To Garment Printing [DTG]

When saving art for direct to garment printing [DTG] always assume you will need a transparent background. To print on dark garments with white ink, your image must have a transparent background.

JPG format is only good for our printing of images that do not use white ink as an underbase or included in the design.

You must save or export files to PNG or TIFF to preserve transparency. We recommend saving your print files as PNG which allows you to preserve transparency, maintains resolution, and is a modern, universal format.

Heat Applied Transfer Artwork Guidelines

Screen printed transfers require vector artwork. You can send us vector artwork and we can print it as is or with adjustments. You can send us bitmap artwork that we will convert to vector. Send us the best artwork that you have. Download the Artwork Requirements PDF.

1. Size: maximum is 11.25" x 14": Although not required, it is a good idea to send us your file at the size you want it printed.

2. Convert text to outlines: For vector files, convert all text to curves/outlines before sending.

3. Colors: We use spot colors for screen printing. You can use spot colors when creating art, but it is not required. Use consistent colors in your file.

4. Line Thickness:

  • Recommended .012" line thickness for Screen Prints.

  • Recommended .025" line thickness for Glitter Film printes.

5. Show-Thru Thickness:

  • Recommended .04" show-thru thickness for all Screen Prints.

6. Special effects, fades, shadows, shading, etc. are not recommended for Screen Printed Transfers:
Some special effects can't be produced with screen printing. Consider our digital transfers if your art contains these items.

Acceptable File Formats:

[AI] Adobe Illustrator: All versions. Best if files are saved as .eps. If using Creative Cloud, save as CS5 .eps. Will accept .ai if saved with "Create PDF compatible file" is selected. All artwork should be on the artboard.

[PDF] Adobe Acrobat: All versions. PDFs can contain vector and bitmap graphics/text. All text should be converted to curves/outlines. All artwork should be "ON" the page.

[BMP/PNG] Bitmaps: Files with extensions .png, .tif, .gif, .psd, and .bmp are viewable files. These files will be used only as guides from which the artwork will be recreated for screen printed transfers.

[SVG] Scalable Vector Graphics: a standard graphics file type used for rendering two-dimensional images on the internet. SVG files store images as vectors and are known for generating crisp graphics during scalability, which means they're compressible to smaller file sizes at not cost to their definition, detail or quality.

Vector Artwork:

Vector artwork is made in Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW. Vectors are required for our Screen Print and Heat Transfer Vinyl Print or and Cut methods.
